We joined in a project with Uilleann Arts Centre in Skibbereen and made bells, we decorated a Christmas tree, made cards and other lovely art work. We made our traditional mince pies, painted windows and last but not least we recorded a Concert to send home to parents. For this we did a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk and played some music. The concert provided us with some budding actors and musicians showing very nifty dance moves and singing talent.
Christmas is here and the preparations brought some excitement to the school. Science Week was very enjoyable with many interesting activities for young and old - we have some budding Scientists for the future in Derryclough! This Autumn we have started weaving and the children have enjoyed it immensely. They have produced some beautiful cushions and can be very proud of learning a new skill. Here are some of the colourful results.
In the Senior Room we learned all about the Normans, the people, their lives and their castles. In Art we made castles - easier said than done! It gave us an appreciation of the skills of builders in Norman times who built strong castles, some of which are still standing today.
