It was a beautiful day... but a sad goodbye! Why is it that children just keep growing up and graduating from primary school? They leave us with only our memories and some nice paintings on the school mural! But we wish them the very best as they head off to their secondary schools, and have been assured that they will call back to visit us whenever they can!
We had our Sports Day on Monday, 25th of June. As you can see from the photos, it was all good fun and we had some straight races, the usual potato and spoon race, sack race, and 3-legged race, but also some "novelty" events such as the balloon race, the fancy dress race, water carrying, target throw, and target kick!
We had a fantastic day on Saturday, June 23rd. The weather was amazing, there was a huge attendance, and we had the great honour of having Sonny Hayes, who attended the old school and helped to build the new one, present to cut the birthday cake, along with Leah, our youngest pupil! We gathered and displayed photographs from every decade since the 1960s, as well as some from the 1920's, sent to us from the relatives of one of the former Principal teachers! Everyone enjoyed browsing through the displays, commenting on the style and finding old friends and relatives. We had a Mass under the benign shelter of a beautiful Gazebo (a blessing as the sun was so bright!) and a barbeque by Jimmy Kenneally as well as other cakes, teas and coffees kindly brought in by all the families in the school.
